March 21, 2011 - Zane Smith Scores Five Top-10 Results at WKA Kershaw
Californian Sportsman pilot Zane Smith had another successful outing at the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturer's Cup program at the Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. Competing in five different classes, the up and coming driver scored five top six results as he works towards scoring multiple national titles.

"The South Carolina event was very good results wise," expressed Zane Smith after the event. "Even though we didn't take home any wins, I still managed to gain valuable championship points in all the different championships. I am looking forward to the next event in Indiana."

In the Cadet Junior Sportsman classes, Smith was back in his familiar position at the front of the field. With the ultra fast Kershaw circuit, kart setup, power and the draft would play a big role in the final outcome of the race. By scoring fourth and sixth place finishes in South Carolina coupled with his Daytona results earlier in the year, Smith will head to the third of five rounds in a few weeks time looking to take over the top spot in the points battle.

The Komet Sportsman KPV1 division would be the class where the Top Kart pilot would take home his best result. After leading the main event on multiple occasions, Smith ended up the bridesmaid when the checkered flag flew falling short of the top step of the podium.

Looking for redemption in the Yamaha divisions, Smith would garner yet another podium result in the Yamaha Sportsman Heavy division. Competing against some of North America's best up and coming drivers, Smith managed to hold his own against all of them scoring a third place result. While Yamaha Sportsman Lite only produced a sixth place finish, Smith was still encouraged with his results and his progress in the WKA series.

Smith continued, "The racing at WKA has been raised to a whole new level. The battles are fierce and every now and then there is a little contact. I know on this weekend there were a few times that I was hit off the track while another competitor would try and make a pass. I will be ready to race hard at the next event in South Bend."
